2026 ~ Year of the FIRE HORSE ~ Part One

Fire Horse Year ~ FEB 17, 2026
For the first time in the 25 years of annually writing about the Asian New Moon and the upcoming animal, this is the VERY FIRST year I have seen so many people posting information on the FIRE HORSE ! Let that be an indication of how powerful this year is.
And also the first time I have not spend hours researching and consulting my vast internal library to divine the energies for the year. Feels like this shift and shed of the Wood Snake is allowing me to be in the moment. Speak from my intuition and review my own stories involving the Horse.
Yes! My first born and very unexpected son is a Metal Horse, born in 1990. Then four years later my daughter; very planned and expected arrived in the Year of the Wood Dog * part of the triad. If you have been watching my instagram or YouTube posts, a recent one talked about Triads. These are your best friends, colleagues, partners and more. This years Triad is Horse, Dog and Tiger. My son the Horse and my daughter the Dog was joined by my sweet grandson theTiger; born into my family Dec 5 2023.
Now I am allowing my intuitive process guide me into this dynamic year. It’s year 26 of writing about, sharing, presenting and celebrating the Annual Animal of the Asian Zodiac. I’ve hosted presentations & ceremonies from Costa Rica to Bali to British Columbia. So far 2026 feels different, but then every year is! This year will be a small, private 5 person, 5 elemental reading and ceremony on a Costa Rican beach. So simple as compared to the year 2000, where I hosted the celebration & presentation for Metal /Gold Dragon at La Luna Restaurant on Playa Pelades, here in Gunacaste, Costa Rica.

I am annually informed by the Asian Masters and my teachers about the impact of the annual animal and the impacts of its the years Element and its base element. For me, this year is about knowing when to ‘hold up’ and know when to ‘gallop along’ with the Fire Horses infectious energy! This years’ Fire Horse Year will bring exponential change and transformation. Snake was only getting us ready. My advice; tune into your own personal rhythm as the best tool to navigate 2026.
Important facts & a few questions re the FIRE HORSE year!
- The Base element of the Horse is Fire as the Horse lives due South on the Zodiac Chart.
- Know that the elements run two years at a time; Wood Snake 2025 & Wood Dragon in 20
- We just entered double FIRE years and the Fire Horse, 2026 and Fire Goat in 2027, both bear FIRE as base elements!
- This is a dynamic combination as we are headed into ‘Double Fire Years’.
- Fire burns away everything and leaves nothing behind but truth! Are you ready for this?
- Fire is destructive but also transformative; as a ‘slow burn’ it both warms us and cooks for nourishment. It melts Metal to create tools and adornments. How will you use fire this year?
- Fire Horse years were notorious for birth control. Female Horses were thought to be so wild & unpredictable they were not marriage material. Expect the Wild Feminine to emerge.
- Tuning into our own rhythm of ‘in breath/ out breath’ Yin & Yang; will allow us to Flow with Ease, not stress.
- A major shift of reciprocity is begging us to collaborate & share, not hoard in fear.
These insights may help you start your year. There is a ‘gravitas’ to the Fire Horse and power about to be unleashed. With that comes an opportunity to go deeper, burn away illusions, dig deep for answers and live from a place of total authenticity. Are you ready? I think I am and as such new year sharing will be very different than that of past years.
THE FIRE HORSE
Ever since I became fascinated with the Asian and zodiac, I’ve known the Fire horse to be exceptional. I think as a woman, what struck me was that in Asia, specifically China, they did not believe Fire Horse woman could be married. I will not speculate the types of birth control used or how they would determine the sex of a child, but it brings us to question why. Clearly there was and probably still is a fear of this wild, independent feminine power. My personal experience with Fire Horse woman is that their dynamic energy is often hard to chart, understand at times and at times very difficult to keep up with. One thing I know from experience is that all my Fire Horse woman friends are loving, creative, dynamic and yes, independent. But in all that wildness is a deep need to share with others the wisdom they have acquired, whether that be he creatively they inspire or the music they make. I love and appreciate them as ‘sisters in arms’. Men of Fire Horse years share this dynamic creativity. They are determined, relentlessly devout and proud. Both the men and women have vision, they never slow down and are relentlessly positive; a rare and amazing quality in these times. A huge happy 60th birthday to my Fire Horse homies ~ I love you and wish you the best year. 60 is magic and so are you!
The fear of the unleashed, feminine, wild, transformative energy was very real and prominent 60 years ago. Yet here we are on the precipice of a new paradigm and now, more than ever needing to unleash this divine feminine into the world. No doubt there will be resistance so now we tune into inner resilience and any internal ‘resistance’ to change on a personal level. Let meet this Fire Horse year with courage, grace and honour.

An exceptional quality of Horse born is their strong sense of independence, and passionate creativity. Although they are very social, horses long for freedom and are often spontaneous as a result. They then tend to leap before they think, not collecting enough information. When they forget their due diligence their efforts can fail dramatically. Luckily, their fine tuned instincts and versatile nature allow them to bounce back. However not all Horses’ efforts translate into positive outcomes.Research, due diligence and being prepared this year is key for not just Horse born individuals but all of the Zodiac Animals. The more informed the are the more successful we will be.
In Horse years we have the opportunity to focus, persevere and follow our dreams. Horse years are also a good time to reset: reevaluate, reorganize and plan while keeping focused on our goals. The Fire energy will allow us to shift towards what our ‘heart and creative drive’ aspires to. It is a crucial time to seek out and be aware of opportunities. - The escalation of Vietnam war added 140,00 more troops to the area by the years end
- Mao started the Chinese cultural revolution which still has long lasting effects to this day
- Fidel Castro mandated martial law in Cuba
- Human rights protests escalated in the southern US states
- The Black Panther organization was born with Malcom X and Angela Davis becoming icons
- The cold war shifted with France withdrawing from NATO
- Wales mining disaster took 114 lives
CULTURAL INFLUENCES
- Startrek took us into Science fiction fantasy world
- The USSR launched the a Satellite which showed the first moon images
- The Beatles, Beach Boys & the Doors were making headlines in the pop music scene
- George Harrison met Ravi Shankar starting the popularization of Indian sitar music in the west
- Psychedelic rock took hold in America and spread around the world
- Twiggy became a fashion icon and the MOD look & Swinging Sixties style came out of London
- England won the world cup which added to the fervour around British influences world wide
- Toys like the easy bake oven and the twister game were released
In 2026 both cultural and political events will shape our future world. Stay tuned for more about the Fire Horse and how we can navigate in, through and with its powerful influences.
IN REVIEW
CONSIDERING THE CURRENT GLOBAL CLIMATE
In a larger over view on the level of caution required in the FIRE HORSE YEAR, know that the combination of Fire with this powerful animal represents an immense vitality which could be viewed by some as volatile. The Horses association within Mythology as a creature that travels the underworld is also interpreted as a Horse that travels through Fire and darkness to transform energies. If we are viewing world events through this lens then we need to expect the shadow to show up in various ways. 60 years ag, in 1966 we did not have exposure to social media, false news and information that is now keeping us on our toes or up at night if we allow it to.
This year’s Animal has a reputation for fierce independence and courageous behaviour can turn into disaster when preparation has not be considered. Sadly the Fire Horse is seen as impulsive and reckless. Let’s watch as the year unfolds. There is as much possibility in a Fire Horse year as the is perceived or real danger. Take heed and be more careful this year. Especially in new ventures, and world travel.

The events in Jalisco Mexico are very much in line with the Fire Horse Year. UNPREDICTABLE!
It’s a sobering thought for both North and Central Americans, who love to travel to Mexico for its culture, people and tropical beaches.
Personally these events are having a deep personal effect. Having lived in Chiapas for months at a time, back in the late 80’s to my first ever trip to Puerta Vallarta and Yelapa in 1982. Also many of my Canadian friends travel to this area and spend entire winters just north of PV. And two of my dearest friends died in Puerto Vallarta hospitals in the last five years. I feel I am connected to this area via memory, friendships and history.
For me the weirdest aspect of this story is that the cartel head who was killed was born in the Year of the Fire Horse!
