Be prepared for a challenging year when it’s you are in the spotlight. Not a year to slack off in the due diligence department. Keep that calm and steady focus even when being pulled in many directions. This can be lucky for if you stay optimistic & positive with career and financial choices. It can also be exciting and fun so long as you don’t overshoot expectations! 

It will be important to be clear and transparent mores that usual lest you are misunderstood. This is especially true in your business endeavours. Her graceful dance tames the dangerous serpent with divine feminine & matriarchal power”. In Ancient Greece, he says, the snake was used as a household protector; So very Feng Shui!

Snake Mythology & Cultural Connections

The Snake is associated with creation myths world wide. There are so many aspects of Snake that symbolize the cycle of life and death! The most obvious is its ability to shed its skin and emerge shifted and renewed.

The Snake is an integral part of Creation Myths in many parts of the world. Here are a few

• Adam and Eve’s fall from grace in the garden of Eden by the temptations and allure of the Snake.
• The Astec God of Mexico, Quetzalcoatl, is said to have created man from combining his blood with the corn plant: the main substance crop for much of Mexico and Central America.
• The Rainbow Serpent of the Australian Aboriginal’s gave life to the planet and humans. The serpent rose from a deep sleep underground and woke the frogs. Tickling their bellies the Frogs produced an abundance of water that created streams, lakes and rivers and became the source of all life.

The Symbol of the Ouroboro can be traced back to ancient Egyptian and Grecian times. The image is that of a Snake eating its tail. Having talked much about the ‘transformative’ aspects of Snake and its impact on the Wood Snake year, here is a significant reminder of what we can focus on in 2025.

• Ouroboros carries with them the endless recycling of life, death and rebirth
• Its image is that of balance; like the Tai Chi Symbol in Asia or the Yin /Yang symbol.
• It speaks to the universal truth that energy does not die or disappear, it only changes shape.
• It has a connection to Alchemy; a medieval practice that was a precursor of the science of Chemistry. Alchemy was seen as the mystical and magical vehicle of creation and transformation.

Snakes Impact on recent history

When we look at the past in regards to the Mystical aspects of Snake, we would be remiss not to look at history. The last year of the WOOD Snake was 1965. As we know, this year will have impact, possible disruption and transformation.

A look back to some main events of 1965;

• The Vietnam War escalated beyond anyones predictions when the US launched ‘Mission Rolling Thunder’. This 3.5 year aerial assault on Vietnam was pivotal on the world stage and became a focus for internal unrest, world protests, and so many more repercussions.
• Winston Churchills state funeral was the largest assembly of world leaders and dignitaries in the history of the world in 1965. It was only surpassed by that of Pope Paul II’s state funeral in 2005.
• Martin Luther King successfully lead a 4 day march of 25,000 civil rights activists from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. This happened only weeks after his first attempt at this march, when over 500 activists were gunned down. That became known as Bloody Sunday and was honoured in the above imapactive and historic march.
• Malcom X was gunned down and killed while giving a speech in Harlem, New York just weeks prior to Martin Luthers successful march.
• Singapore was expulsed  from the Federation of Malaysia and became its own island Nation under Lee Quan Yew, a former statesman in Malaysia.
• The Watts racial riots broke out in Los Angeles after a black man was stopped on suspicion of Drinking driving. The excessive force used on him sparked the largest and costliest racial urban outbreak of the Civil Rights movement in the USA. It left 34 dead, 1000 injured and cost $40 million in damages.
• Indonesia left the United Nations early in 1965, then later banned the Indonesian Communist party from operation. A coup  launched by the Communists was crushed by General Suharto. This also sparked a mass execution of known communists within this country.
• Rhodesia became a political hot spot. The county declared martial law and later its political stance became world news with many counties becoming involved.
• Nasa’s ‘Mariner’ spacecraft was launched and flew to Mars capturing its first close up photos.
• Muhammad Ali defeated Sonny Liston with one blow in a flight that lasted only minutes. The blow rendered became know as the Phantom Punch.
• Che Guevera leaves Cuba and ends his fight alongside Fidel Castro. Afterwards many Cuban refugees leave Cuba for the USA. Later in the year the US launched an airlift to assist Cubas wanting to relocate with over 250,000  refugees taking advantage of the program.
• A Charlie Brown Christmas was launched on CBC as the first Peanuts special. A classic, still loved today!
• Ferdinand Marcos was elected as president of the Philippines.
• Aboriginals were given the vote in Queensland, Australia.
• Tokyo becomes the largest city in the world, surpassing New York.
• These songs hit first on the charts. Many are now classic! Yesterday by the Beatles, The Tracks of My Tears by Smokey Robinson, Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan, Get off my Cloud by the Rolling Stones, Stop in the name of Love by the Supremes & California Dreaming by the Mamas & the Papas to name a few withThe Supremes had 4 hits on the chart at one time!

This is the first Wood Snake Year since 1965. ( 5 elements must rotate through 12 elements). Sharing both mythology and history gives us but a sneak preview of the symbology of Snake at play in real and mystical ways.
The escalation of the Vietnam war was significant in 1965. Student unrest and protest gave way to world wide involvement. It also became the precursor of the Hippy Movement that grew  out of the realities of this very devastating conflict.

Watch what will transpire this year! Can you feel change coming?

 This pivotal and profound photo by Marc Riboud was published in 1965. As seen written under the shot, the march to the Pentagon helped turn public opinion against the Vietnam war. A huge shift and the start of real change. 

Jungle Snakes hide well in their Environment

Within days of arriving in the Jungles of Costa Rica I had a very close encounter with this juvenile rattle snake. Pre cursor to the year ahead and an alert to be more like a snake.

Although Ive mentioned some of these aspects of the Snake in my videos and Interview it’s important to tune into the wisdom of Snake born. Snakes are mysterious and wise and have an allure that can be frightful or tempting.

The sign of the Snake is considered Karmic and Complex. I will delve more into this with my section on Snake Mythology  but for now let’s look at core energetics that we can learn from, emulate and or avoid in 2025.

• Discerning
• Financially savvy
• Detached
• Master seducers
• Mentally active
• Problems solvers
• Transmutation experts  (shedding of skin)
• Value friendships and Colleagues
• Intuitive
• Stylish

• Supporter of the Arts

Negative

• Unpredictable
• Jealous
• Possessive
• Calculating and Subversive
• Insecure
• Stubborn
• Elitist
• Physically reserved
• Cold blooded (+ -) non human characteristic
• Judgemental

Take a good look at what you need more of in your life. Even thought these are listed as Positive and Negative qualities, it may be that you need to emulate being more stubborn or less predictable to maneuver well through the Snake year. It may also mean that it would be to your benefit to be more calculating in your business life and share less about your personal life ( practicing the subversive aspect of the Snake character.

THE WOOD SNAKE

2025 is influenced by both Wood and Fire. The base element of the Snake is Fire ( SSW on the compass is in the Fire element zone ). This year the Wood Element rules the Snake and as such the energy of WOOD will fuel FIRE. This will make the year unpredictable overall.

Typical Wood characteristics usually show as outgoing, innovative and fast moving. However none of these qualities are really CORE to Snake energy. So we are looking at a different presentation of this particular Snake.

The Wood Snakes more refined characteristic is its Intuition and an almost psychic ability to know what is coming towards it prior to its happening. Should we tune in more carefully to our intuitive process we too may be able to avoid certain challenges coming our way this year.

Wood Snakes are less outgoing than one would expect of the Wood element but they are know for being earnest, consistent and very kind. They are tough and have great powers of endurance. These qualities are becoming less prevalent in our culture so why not focus more on ‘growing them within us’.

An attitude of gratitude often whipes out negativity, complaining and seeing the cup as half full. Cultivating our own sense of accountability and acceptance of others will go far in facing challenges at any time in life. The Wood Snake will be mysterious and withdrawn but this too can bennifit us all if we know how to work with it and emulate what feels right for us.

Not everybody is ready to shed their skin this year, so know your timing. The key is to be prepared for this to happen even if not totally ready. The unpredictable nature of Snake could take anyone of us by surprise. Not an uncommon trend in past years. There is no new normal as the goal posts are constantly shifting.

Wood Snake loves to be financially secure and also emotionally secure. There are never any guarantees on this front, but there are things we can do that keep us from worry and stress.

• set financial budgets for your personal life as well as business
• ask assistance from experts
• make time for self care
• be fair with yourself and others
• eat a diet that works for you & focus on being more ALKALINE *worry and stress are ACIDIC
• spend time in nature and listen to you intuition
• don’t ignore your gut feelings

Wood Snakes are also very stylish and patrons of the arts. Of all the Snakes they may appear more elitist and privileged. Whether we considered this good or bad it makes no difference. What I will say is that 2025 may be. year where you allow your self access to the more Artistic side of your personality. Attend events that broader your perspective, start a new hobby and generally step out of your comfort zone.

Wood Snakes can be extravagant to a fault. Their expensive tastes can be their downfall. Warning if you too are prone to over expenditure; don’t! Unless you are able to budget for this extras then be very careful this year.

It is not a year to gamble on anything, so ask your self  ” what do I have to lose” . The subversive side of Snake energy can be alluring and lead you into things you best stay out of.

THE GIFT

Wood Snakes have a super power & that is their ability to attract. They have star quality. This attracts  opportunities, people and general good luck, without them raising a finger. This is a powerful energetic which we can all tap into.
So make that list. The one that allows you to dream up a reality worth creating. Every new moon of 2025, revamp the list and modify it. Also track your movement through the year and see if you are able to use some of the Snake qualities improve your life and your attitude.

ABOUT THE YEAR

A lot to be said about the Snake and what effect it may have on us personally and the world in  2025. May talk about the most obvious, the Snake’s ability to ‘ shed skin’. I personally have been feeling this catharsis for days leading to  this powerful first New Moon of 2025!

It’s as if the Dragon is shaking its tail, sputtering the last of its Fire and waving us goodbye. I certainly hope your transition is milder than what I’ve been experiencing here in the Costa Rican Jungle. My guess however is that we are all being challenged on some level, so if you have to shed some skins now to make way for the Wood Snake; embrace it.

The Key to the year is understanding more about snake energy and emulating it the best we can.

Snakes are wise and mysterious, because they take their time to observe all that is around them at all times. They  ‘watch and they wait’. Snakes use thier acute intuition to make decisions which reads as calculating. And they do it all under a reserved and calm demeanour.

Snakes may strike quickly but not until it’s weighted all the factors and checked the facts. A very good practice to copy this year as it may safe you from hasty and erroneous decisions.

On the world stage the implications are broad. The roller coaster Dragon Year has made an impact that we will continue to feel the effects of well into 2025. There is an underbelly to Snake as was seen in Dragon. Snakes often live under rocks, in caves and places where they stay hidden. This subversive energy will persist, so we must take the high road and flush out all subliminal tendencies. The shedding of snakes skin is both a curse and a blessing. Just when we get use to one version it can shift into another.

Many point out that this will act as a revelation and disrobing of the powers that be. A great shedding of the old to reveal a better and more positive future is what we can hope for. Leveling the playing field for all humans on the planet is a dream that can only become a reality if we believe it can and act towards that goal. The Wood Snake is sure to bring disruptive energies, and often when we least expect it. This is why developing our intuitive process is so important. When we choose to operate from a more heart based energy and bypass ego based tendencies magic can happen.

Know that the Snakes are very artistic, romantic, sexy, fashionable and deeply into the arts and culture. It will be a great year to delve into that world and enjoy it if you are not already prone to interacting with this aspect of your community. These qualities and traits could be the highlight of your year. Finding a new love; whether that be a person, activity or community may just be the highlight of your year.

Know that any projects started in 2024 that feel successful will continue to flow. Use the early months of 2025 to tweak and reevaluate. Taking a step back to refine your goals and intentions. In true Snake fashion it may bring to light even better ways to move forward.

• be prepared for the unexpected disruptions, Snakes strike without warning
• remember that the Snake’s calm demeanour hides what is really happening; don’t be fooled

• take decisive actions only when you are 100% ready
• tune into your intuition and your heart; it may lead you to unexpected and delightful places
• be ready to assist family and friends who may not see the bigger picture; bring them joy and hope

Wood Snake Talisman for 2025

The first New Moon in January 2025 is day one of the dynamic, charismatic and mysterious  Wood Snake. Considering that snakes are both complex and karmic, it will be a year of change and transformation.

Many of us are still reeling from the many events of 2024 and the Mystical Wood Dragons legacy. Know that this year will bring similar energy yet we will have more control of our responses and actions than we may have in 2024. As we shift from a mythical serpent to one we can relate to it will be wise to study Snake characteristics in order to emulate them.

There is much to say about Snakes but first let me remind you to take each New Moon of 2025 and re-set your intentions and goals. This will keep you focused and on track with a year that has as much potential.

Snakes are intelligent, observant and wise. They watch and wait for opportunities as they are both ambitious and determined. They do their homework and due diligence. Snakes will rarely attack unless provoked. They take their time to create and manifest, never rushing into things. They may look like they are sleepy and unaware yet this is far from the truth. Snakes never let their guard down, lest they fall prey to enemies or circumstance. Snakes can be jealous and secretive when out of balance. They are curious, refined and love to travel, explore other cultures and tend to be broadminded.

In 2025 it is wise to wait, watch and listen. Know that anything started in 2024 has a life of its own and will continue to shift and change. Whether this be a project started, a new job, a new business or an actual move on the planet. It will be advantageous and advised to take a pause and reevaluate the direction you or your projects are going.
As we shift into Snake energy, take time to tweak, modify and or shift directions. Also, slow down for a moment to make sure you are still aligned with what it is you started in the Dragon year.

Snakes subliminal influence can make a powerful impact on your life in 2025. It will be important to study Snake in order to understand our relationship to its energy.  Snakes ability to shed its skin can be an inspirational symbol and tool this year, especially if you have faced personal challenges in 2025. The Snakes and snake born people have strong intuitions. Learning to tap into and trust our gut feelings is a must and a great practice in these early days and weeks as we transition into the full power of Wood Snake Energy.

The What & Why of Power Gardens

During the times when the Silk Road was the main trade route from Europe to Asia information as well as goods were shared.

The famous Zen Gardens in Japan and the elaborate European Gardens found were influenced by the information and observation of many cultures. It is believed that the Ancient Persian Gardens played a major role as they were the first cultivated gardens for meditation and beauty beyond food and survival.

The evolution of Feng Shui and its application to exterior garden spaces has as much to do with geomantic principles as it does with natural flora and fauna. To this end we find today and endless variety of styles and formats for gardens that  Feng Shui principles can be or have been applied to.

WOOD DRAGON TALISMAN 

The 2024 good luck Talisman reminds us of what we seek to manifest and create in our lived using Feng Shui Astrology and symbolism.

This year the Wood Dragon energy came to be while playing with Water colours while in Central America. Using blues, greens and purples on a small pad of Water colour paper, when finished I was rotating this Somewhat abstract piece and recognized the Dragon head and realized I’d channeled the years image from a simple doodle with colour. Later a friend pointed out a serphants head. With 2025 being the year is the year of the Wood Snake, this felt like a gift and the correct image to use for the 2024 Talisman.

A simple doodle with water colour became the Wood Dragon Symbol of ‘free flow energy’ and mystical revelations.

It did take more time to craft the Talisman as I was in contact travel mode. I had the image, then I had to find the art paper, decide on the Calligraphy to draw and find the beads and semi- precious stone that I would use in finishing it.

This years Talisman is infused with tropical jungle energy, the freshness of the Pacific Ocean both tropical and northern. Prayers for the planet and our constant evolution and the magic of this mystical creature. 

I am taking orders of the Wood Dragon Talisman and will infuse these hand crafted pieces with your personal aspirations, hopes and prayers. I will also dowse for the crystal and stones personal to your healing and higher intentions.

WHATS IN A TALISMAN 

Talisman:

Any object infused with the life force energy of the one who creates it. A talisman is intended to protect, heal, or activate intentions for whom they are made. They are often portable objects carried on a person, placed in a space or installed permanently in architecture. Talisman evoke the energy assigned in their creation and intention, as a reminder to the recipient.

Talisman’s in Asia, specifically China dates back over 4000 years to Daoist shamanism. Talisman use Feng Shui is not a In Asia, the use of Talisman dates back over 4000 years and was specific to Daoist shamanism in China. Talisman use Feng Shui was not a common practice with Feng Shui Masters.

Placing such cures within your home or business when they are not a part of your culture, defeats their purpose.

As a western interpreter of the Ancient Art of Feng Shui, it has become my goal to create a symbol that embodies intention and reminder of what we need to serve out higher good.
